She was having pleasant dreams. She dreamed of nice things, like elders speaking her name to kits when they listen to stories. She would be a legend in life and death in her dream world. But it wasn’t just a dream for her. For Mallowstar, it was an obsession. For so long she bided her time, her lust for power growing. She was going to make RiverClan the strongest clan, no matter the price.
Things were going well so far. Her clan was the strongest out of the four. The river was sustaining them and their numbers were growing with all the new recruits. What she had set into motion would not be stopped. RiverClan’s power would grow and those who stood in her way would have to be put to a stop. Mallowstar’s comfort was premature and cocky, though she didn’t. She had no victory yet, but the success she felt with her clan brimming with strength was undeniable. She felt invincible, untouchable. The other clans struggled and she prospered, which made her relieved. It wasn’t right to think like that but she had no true definition of right and wrong. Her conscious didn’t work like that.
Mallowstar yawned, her body language mirroring her relaxed state. There were no serious issues to handle immediately, no crises and fires to put out. It was a nice feeling. She almost laughed at the thought of all those other leaders scrambling around, worrying their tails off trying to find enough food to feed their meager clans. Truly, StarClan had blessed RiverClan this season. They river was full of fish and the prey was more bountiful than usual.
She decided that, despite her comfort, she could find something productive to do. The lithe point cat pulled herself out of her nest, feeling the chill of the air surround her. It was a chilly day, that was certain. It had snowed a little the night before. Her warriors were out patrolling, the apprentices doing their menial tasks. She tended to avoid the nursery if she could. Kits weren’t really her thing. She gave a casual glance in that direction, but continued her examination of the camp. It was a pretty sight, pure and gleaming. There were footsteps in the snow where her clanmates had left. She gave a purr. This normalcy and comfort seemed too good to be true, but she refused to believe that. RiverClan did have it good, at least for now. She glanced at the few cats milling around in the camp.
“RiverClan should be grateful for this prosperous year. This leafbare has not burdened us with tradgedy.” She mewed, mostly to herself. Yes, RiverClan was strong. She was more than willing to prove it.
