PERSONALITY Ospreypaw is an odd character - a ball of energy half the time, loud, excitable, and determined to learn all there is to know about being a warrior, but also at most times attempting to maintain an aura of seriousness that he simply does not possess. He is dead set on becoming the best warrior he can possibly be, and thus puts a lot of energy into appearing as serious as he can; often, however, he fails to keep up the act for long, and his overeager nature wins out. Brave and enthusiastic to the point of being somewhat rash, he as a result has a tendency to rush into things head-on or act without thinking about the consequences, something which can sometimes come back to haunt him. Above all, Ospreypaw is driven by a desire to become a warrior his mother can be proud of, and to serve his Clan and his Clanmates to the utmost of his ability. After all, in his mind, there is nothing more important than the Clan and his Clanmates - besides, perhaps, his brother, Brackenpaw, who he has been very close with all of his short life. This is where Ospreypaw's boundless loyalty falters - if given the choice between his brother and his Clan, he would choose his brother without hesitation, and despite being the smaller of the two, he is fiercely protective of Brackenpaw. This protective streak extends to the friendships Ospreypaw makes as well - he is quick to consider others as his friends, even early on into said friendships, and when it comes to the friends he treasures most - the ones he is closest to - he is very protective over them, perhaps even to the point of being somewhat possessive. He also has an unfortunate inclination towards feelings of jealousy and loneliness; when he feels shunned by those closest to him, even if it's simply because they are busy with other things, he can tend to feel left out and upset, and these emotions can manifest into a bitterness towards those who are claiming their attention. His somewhat jealous disposition perhaps comes partly from a place of hidden, deep-seated insecurity, something he likes to hide behind boasting and sometimes even an arrogant, prideful manner, especially when he is feeling particularly insecure. When it comes to the resolution of problems, Ospreypaw can be a little too quick to resort to violence or heated words; he is not one to stop and think out a rational solution to a quarrel, instead reacting often by lashing out or advocating for battles when they should perhaps be avoided. HISTORY Ospreykit was born a small and sickly kit along two littermates - a brother and a sister, the latter of whom was also sickly at birth. His sister's life was soon claimed by illness, but Ospreykit survived, growing stronger as the days went by - but still much smaller and frailer than his brother, Brackenkit, perhaps because his growth had been stunted by that first uncertain quarter moon. Raised alone alongside his brother, and without a father to be seen, Ospreykit always longed to impress his mother - but Lakeheart seemed too distant to notice. She had always been less close to her kits than perhaps a mother should be, possibly seeing in them the father who refused to claim them, and became even more distant with Ospreykit when his brother, Brackenkit, began to show signs that he would make a good medicine cat apprentice. Lakeheart seemed very impressed at the idea of having such an important kit in the Clan - and less impressed with Ospreykit, who was much smaller, weaker, and apparently less promising than his brother, as the days passed, no matter how hard he tried or how much he wished he could grow. When Ospreypaw became an apprentice, he vowed to himself to become the best warrior in the Clan, so that one day his mother could be proud of him. Though he is still somewhat on the small side, even for a WindClanner, he is determind to make his dream a reality, and finally earn his mother's approval. |
